DALI lighting controls with Mode Edin

We have just completed commissioning of the first Edin DALI control systems in the UK. Using the new range of EDIN controls from mode lighting.

4 rooms with standalone I/O DSI modules were commissioned plus a larger system consisting of 45 ballasts, a mixture of zumtobell and philips,

Commissioning was carried out using the browser interface to the Edin NPU which allows full configuration and provides DALI commissioning tools.

Napier university – Leax Lighting Controls

I have recently been providing consultancy work advinsing the Napier estates team on the upgrading of LEAX lighting Control panels. The Main lecuture theatres at the Craiglockhart campus have bespoke LEAX lighting control panels providing DSI control of lighting along with integration of centralised emergency lighting from an invertor supply. The panel has inputs from fire alarm systems one way integration of the crestron control systems via RS232 and a LEAX control panel.

LEAX Controls went into administration some time ago and hence support and spares are in limited supply.

The original design of the system used a number of DSI fittings for emergency use from the inverter which caused a number of fault conditions were the DSI ballasts will not provide the correct level of emergency illumination.

The estates department picked this up in testing and called us in to help!

The designed solution is using some of the new mode Lighting EDIN din rail range of products.

Thistle Hotel Glasgow

Maintenance work this week on the Thistle hotel Glasgow who have a mode lighting control system with a mix of 0-10v Fluorescent and low voltage down lighters. The controls installation and the lighting scheme is around ten years old but still going strong with a little bit of maintenance!

Control 4 Mode Lighting Integration

We have just completed integration of a mode Evolution system with a Control 4 home control system.

The integration is a true integration with the manufacturer written control 4 drivers allowing full two way control of the mode lighting system including dimmers, relays and control plates.

I was working on this project for Mode Lighting along with Garry Mcdermott of Home Innovation

Private Residence Glasgow

This last week I have been working on a private home just outside Glasgow. The home has an extensive lighting control system with some simple integration using Pronto remote controls.

The property features lighting design and control installation by HES for whom I was working on this occasion.

Lighting control recently completed extensive programming of the public areas in this Glasgow hotel Redevelopment.

The Kelvin Lorne

The work completed involved extensive focusing and positioning of lighting and creation of a variety of daytime and night-time scenes to be used by the staff.

Bar Lighting

The restaurant area uses a number of track lighting circuits with a mix of aluminium reflectors and MR16 sources. The positioning and focusing of these fittings makes this space come to life with all the other interior features.

The new function suite is due to be commissioned shortly with a three partition lighting system capability.

Lighting control have just completed commissioning the latest Table table from the Whitbread Family.

Working Along with Electrical Contractors PEI Delta and Manufacturers Mode lighting

These units have a Tiger control system along with a timer module recalling scenes to ensure the lighting remains as designed throughout the units operation.

New restaurant in Glasgow

Lighting Control have been working hard to complete the lighting control systems at the latest Sapporo Teppanyaki restaurant in Glasgow.

The systems control all sorts of lighting types including fluorescent, incandescent, LED and many types of control.

Control systems from Mode lighting allowed the control of all units from a single unit in the form of the workhorse Tiger lighting system.

LED colour change was dealt with by the dedicated Colourstyle DMX controller.

The Mulberries

Lighting control’s Engineers have completed commissioning work on the second phase of this prime Edinburgh development.

The Lighting system includes some simple automation of cupboard lights using simple magnetic contact closures.

In General the lighting is controlled using impulse control via mode evolution plates. Whole house control is also available to the user from two main function plates.

Loch Maree

Our work in Scotland often takes us to the far corners of our beautiful country and last week was no exception.

Dan Aberdeen our senior engineer travelled up to the north west of Scotland near gairloch to complete the programming of a unique luxury redidential project at Slattadale on the banks of Loch Maree.

The Lighting design for the project was carried out by Gavin Fraser of Foto-ma and utilized a wide variety of types of luminaires in the complex lighting scheme.

The system control used the mode evolution system throughout.
